Make an event public

Let people outside your space register with just a name and email, share the link, and see who signed up as a guest.

A public event can be opened by anyone with its link, and people can register with just their name and email. They don't need a Joyn account and they don't join your space. It's the way to invite parents, guests, other clubs or the whole neighbourhood to something without inviting them into everything else.

Make an event public

  1. Create or edit the event.
  2. Under Options, switch on Public event.
  3. On a new event, click Create event (Create on the mobile app). On an existing one the change saves right away.

The line under the switch says what the setting means, so you can always check: off reads "Only members can see it".

Share the link

  • On the web: open the event's settings, and copy the link under Public event with Copy. You can also choose Copy public link from the event's menu.
  • On the mobile app: tap Share in the event's menu, or tap the link in the event's settings and choose Share link.

If your space has a public page, the event is also listed there. See Give your space a public page.

What guests see and get

The public page shows the event's name, description, time, place, who is hosting, and how many are going. It never shows who registered.

A guest enters their name and email and clicks Register. They are going straight away, and they get an email with a calendar invite and a private link to change or cancel their answer. If the event changes time or place, is cancelled, or is about to start, they get an email about it too.

People who already have a Joyn account can sign in from the page and register with one click.

If the event has a capacity, guests take spots like everyone else, and the page shows Full once the last spot is gone.

Seeing your guests

Guests show in the event's list of people with Not on Joyn yet under their name. People who can manage the event also see their email address, so you can reach them.

Turn it off or reset the link

  • Switch off Public event to stop new visitors. The link stops working, and the same link comes back if you switch it on again. People who already registered keep their place.
  • Reset link gives the event a new link and stops every link shared so far. Only use it if the link reached the wrong people.
