How it works

From idea to full house

  1. 01

    Create the event

Name, time and place, or a link for online. Set it to repeat weekly or monthly if it does.

  2. 02

    Invite the right people

The whole community, one group, or anyone with the link when the event is public.

  3. 03

    Watch the answers come in

Going and not going update live. Joyn reminds the rest and keeps the waitlist moving.

🎟️

Spots and waitlist

Full means full, fairly

Cap an event, or just one date of a series, when the bus has 50 seats or the hall holds 30. Turn on the waitlist and the next person moves up the moment someone drops out.

  • βœ“

A capacity for the event, or a different one for a single date

  • βœ“

First come, first served when a spot frees up

  • βœ“

A push notification for whoever moves up, an email for guests

  • βœ“

Organizers can let someone in over the limit when it makes sense

T-shirt size, allergies, a lift from the station. Ask it right where people answer, instead of in a form nobody fills in.

  • βœ“

Up to ten questions per event, required or optional

  • βœ“

Private to organizers, or visible to members when you choose

  • βœ“

People can change their answers later

  • βœ“

Download every answer as a spreadsheet

Everything else

The details that make it work

πŸ”

Recurring events

Weekly or monthly series. Move, cancel or change a single date without touching the rest.

πŸ””

Automatic reminders

A nudge the day before and an hour before, and before the sign-up deadline. Nobody sets them up.

πŸ“£

Change notices

When the time or place changes, everyone who's coming hears about it, guests included.

πŸ’»

Online and hybrid

Add a meeting link next to the place. Only the people who are coming can see it.

⏳

Sign-up deadline

Close answers a day or a week before, so the order goes in on time.

πŸ“¬

A weekly email

Every Monday, members get the week ahead: what needs an answer and what they're going to.

πŸ‘₯

Co-organizers

Add collaborators who can edit the event and see the answers with you.

πŸ’¬

Share it in a channel

Post the event into a channel as a live card that opens it in one tap.

🌍

Public events

Open an event to anyone with the link. Guests sign up with a name and email, no account.

πŸ‘₯

Who it's for

For every kind of get-together

⚽

Clubs

Weekly training, away matches with a capped bus, and the season party with a waitlist.

β›ͺ

Churches

Services, small groups and the retreat weekend with a program and dietary questions.

🀝

Networks and associations

Meetups open to newcomers, members' evenings and the annual general meeting.

Good to know

What Joyn doesn't do

Better to say it here than have you find out halfway through the season.

!

No payments or tickets.

Joyn doesn't take money for events. Keep using your membership system or payment link for that.

!

Adding to a phone calendar adds one date.

From the app, you add the date you picked, not the whole series.

Questions about events

Can people outside our community sign up?

+

Yes. Make an event public and anyone with the link can register with a name and email, no account needed. Guests get a calendar invite and can change or cancel their answer from a link in the email. They never become members of your space.

How does the waitlist work?

+

Turn it on under Capacity. When the event is full, people can join the waitlist instead. When a spot frees up, the first person in line moves up automatically and gets a notification. Organizers can also let someone in over the limit.

Can we have recurring events with different details on one date?

+

Yes. A weekly or monthly series can have one date moved, cancelled or given its own place, capacity or program, without changing the others.

Do members get reminders?

+

Yes, automatically: the day before and an hour before for people who are going, and before the sign-up deadline for those who haven't answered. Members choose in their notification settings whether they want them.

Is it free?

+

Events are part of every plan, including Free for up to 100 members. Bigger communities pay per person on Team or one flat price on Community.
