Both are channel types. Create a To-do list or a Kanban channel in the space or inside a group, and it lives next to your chat channels. See Channel types explained.
To-do lists
Click the add button and give the to-do a Name. Open it to fill in the rest:
- Assignees - pick one or more members. They see the task on their own task list.
- Due date - click Set due date. Overdue tasks are highlighted.
- Sub-tasks - break a big task into steps. The tally on the card shows how many are done.
- Messages - every to-do has its own thread. Use Send a message on this to-do to ask a question or post an update without cluttering the list.
Tick a to-do to complete it. Completed tasks drop out of the way but stay in the channel. Drag to reorder.
Kanban boards
A board starts with a few columns. Add a column, give it a name like In review, and pick a Colour. Mark one column as the one where Cards here are done.
- Click the add button in a column and type a Card title.
- Open a card for Assignees, a Due date and its own message thread.
- Drag a card to another column, or open it and change Column if you are on a phone.
- Move to another board sends a card to a different board in the same group.
Who can add and edit
Anyone who can post in the channel can add and edit to-dos and cards. Restrict it under the channel's Channel permissions if only the committee should touch the board.
