Most clubs have a website, and most of them are a little out of date. The events page says spring when it is autumn, the news column stops in May, and the person who knows how to update it is on holiday. Meanwhile everything that is actually happening is posted in Joyn, twice if someone has the energy.
From today, the website can read it from Joyn instead.
What you can put on your site
Three things, each a piece of code you paste once:
- Upcoming events. A list of your next public events, with date, place and how many are coming. Each opens its own page where visitors register, members or not.
- News. The latest posts from an announcement channel you have made public. Write in Joyn and the site follows. Who wrote a post is never shown.
- Join card. Your space's name, number of members and a button to join. Made for a sidebar or a "Become a member" page.
The code is plain HTML, the same kind a Facebook widget uses, so it works anywhere one of those does. The frame grows with its content, shows in light or dark or follows each visitor's own setting, and every link opens on Joyn in a new tab, so your site stays where the visitor left it.
Public channels
The News embed comes with something new inside Joyn too. A space's announcement channel can now be public: anyone can read its posts on your public page, under a new News tab, and on your website. Everything else about the channel stays as it was. Members react and comment inside, polls and questions never leave, and the author of a post is not shown outside.
It is a switch in the channel's settings, off by default, and it only exists on the space's own announcement channels. A team's channel stays with the team.
How to set it up
- Open Settings in your space and go to Website.
- Pick what to show, set the language and colours, and copy the code.
- Paste it into an HTML block on your site.
That is the whole thing. The full walkthrough, including where the HTML block lives in Klubmodul, WordPress, Squarespace and Wix, is in the guide.
Why we built it for Klubmodul first
Over 2,000 Danish clubs run their members, fees and sign-ups in Klubmodul, and that is the right tool for that job. What it does not give a club is a place where members talk and hear about things, which is why so many of them also run a chat group, and why their website is the last to know.
Joyn sits next to Klubmodul rather than instead of it. Members and money stay there. The conversation, the events and the news live in Joyn, and now the Klubmodul website shows them without anyone writing them twice. We have written up how the two fit together on the Klubmodul page, including the honest list of what does not happen: Klubmodul has no open api, so your member list does not move by itself, and fees stay where they are.
What it costs
Nothing extra. The embeds are in every plan, free included. On paid plans your public page and events are also listed by search engines, which the embed does not change either way.
If you are not on Joyn yet, create your space, make one event public, and see it on your website the same evening.
