An integration is a key that lets an outside service act inside your space. Connect it to Zapier, a script or anything that can send an HTTP request, and it can post messages, add to-dos, create events and invite people, all as a clearly marked bot.
Integrations are included on the Team and Community plans. On Free the tab is not shown. See Plans and billing.
What an integration can do
- Post a message into a Messages or Announcements channel, as a named bot.
- Create a to-do in a to-do channel, with an optional note and due date.
- Create an event on a group's calendar.
- Invite a member to the space by email. The invitation is single use and lasts seven days.
- Read and move kanban cards, and comment on them.
Everything runs one way, from the outside into Joyn. Nothing that happens in Joyn can start an automation somewhere else yet, so a Zap cannot begin with "when someone posts in Joyn".
Space key or group key
Where you create the key decides what it can reach:
- Space key - created in the space's settings. It can invite people to the space. It is not in any group, so it cannot post anywhere until its bot is added to a group.
- Group key - created inside a group's settings. It can post, add to-dos, create events and work with boards in that group only. It cannot invite to the space.
For "post a message in one channel", make a group key in that group. Reach for a space key when the job is inviting people.
Create the key
- Open Settings for the space, or the group's settings, and go to Integrations. You need the Manage integrations permission; owners and admins have it.
- Click Create integration. A new one appears called New integration; give it a proper Integration name, for example Zapier or Ticket sales. That name is what the bot is called in channels.
- The key is shown once. Copy it straight away. Joyn stores only a hash, so nobody can read it back later. If you lose it, click Regenerate api key? to get a new one; the old one stops working the same second.
Connect it in Zapier
Joyn works with any Zapier step that can make an HTTP request. Add the key as a header:
Authorization: Bearer joyn_sk_…
Then pick the Joyn action you want, for example post to a channel, and map the fields from your trigger. Typical recipes:
- New Typeform response, or new Stripe payment, invites the person to your space.
- New Google Sheets row creates an event on the group calendar.
- A GitHub deployment posts a message in the engineering channel.
- Every Monday at 9, a scheduled Zap kicks off the weekly thread.

Manage and revoke
Back under Integrations, select an integration to rename it, see the last characters of its key, regenerate it, or delete it. Delete integration? stops the key immediately and cannot be undone. The bot appears in the group's People list with a Bot label; to remove it, delete its integration rather than the user.
A key can never do more than the space allows, and admins can withdraw what it reaches at any time.
