Your messages is the private side of Joyn. You can send photos and messages to people you share a space with, one to one or in a small group, without it going through a channel.
Start a direct message
- Open Messages in the main navigation and click New message.
- Pick the person. Only people you share at least one space with are listed.
- Write and send.
Create a group chat
- Click New group chat.
- Give it a Name and add people. You can add more later with Add Users.
- Send the first message.
Open People in the chat to see who is in it. Edit chat name and the picture are in the chat's options, and so is Delete group chat, which removes the chat for everyone.
While chatting
- Reply to a specific message to keep threads clear.
- Add reaction for a quick thumbs up.
- Attach images, video and files with the attachment button.
- Remove message deletes one you sent for everyone in the chat. It is replaced with Deleted message.
Notifications
A push notification arrives on your phone when someone sends you a message or adds you to a group chat. On the web, New message pop-ups shows a card in the corner while you are elsewhere in Joyn. Both can be turned off in your profile. See Your profile, emails and notifications.
Chats and spaces
Chats are not tied to a space. Leaving a space does not remove you from group chats you share with its members, and a group chat carries on even if its members are in different spaces.
