Push notifications need three things to be true: the phone allows Joyn to notify you, Joyn is set to send that kind of notification, and the phone is not silencing them. Check in that order.
1. The phone's permission
- iPhone: Settings, Notifications, Joyn. Allow Notifications must be on.
- Android: Settings, Apps, Joyn, Notifications. Turn them on for the app.
If Joyn never asked, or you tapped "Don't allow" the first time, this is where it lives.
2. Joyn's own switches
Open the app, tap your profile picture and choose Push notifications. The switches are grouped under Spaces, Groups and Events, one per kind of notification, for example Someone posted in a space channel, Someone mentioned you by name, An event you're going to starts soon and It's time to check in. Make sure the one you are missing is on.
3. The phone is silencing them
- Focus or Do Not Disturb modes hide notifications until the mode ends. Add Joyn as an allowed app if you want them through.
- On Android, battery optimisation can stop apps delivering in the background. Set Joyn to unrestricted in the battery settings.
- Check that notifications for the app are not set to silent or "deliver quietly".
4. Signed out, or an old install
Push only reaches devices where you are signed in. If you signed out, sign back in. If you reinstalled the app, open it once and sign in so it registers again. An out-of-date app can also miss newer notification types; update it from the store.
What is not a push
The Weekly digest is an email, not a push. Event reminders are pushes, but only for events you have answered Going to. If you are getting too many notifications, turn off the type rather than the whole app.
